THE iLembe Cluster SAPS discovered a dagga cache which is estimated to be worth millions at a farm in the Doringkop area just outside KwaDukuza on Monday, May 14.

The police upon raiding the area discovered fertilisers, bloom fertilisers, plant food, and incubators and sift seedlings which is allegedly used to grow the dagga.

According to SAPS KwaDukuza spokesperson Sibusiso Khuzwayo, the dagga was apparently grown and packed and then exported from the farm to surrounding provinces and countries.

“The police, after their investigation, found a Malawian national (36) on the premises but he maintained that he had no knowledge of the activities on the farm as there is a homeowner who might be involved in the planting of the drugs. The home/farm owner was not found at the premise but the specialised crime unit, the Hawks are doing a high level investigation on the matter,” said Khuzwayo.

There have been no arrests as the police are looking for the farm owner. The foreign national was taken in for questioning and was later released.
