MEMBERS of the KwaDukuza Protective Workshop, situated at the Mdoniville Community Hall, were treated to an outing to Ushaka Marine World recently.
The workshop, which is run by the Association for Persons with Disabilities - KwaZulu-Natal (APD-KZN), sees 12 persons with disabilities attending daily.
The attendees were treated to a fun day and sumptuous meals at Ushaka.
APD wishes to thank all sponsors who contributed towards the success of the event.
Persons with disabilities often experience difficulties in seeking employment in the open labour market so the protective workshop keeps them gainfully occupied with contract work, skills training and empowerment programmes.
The association offers social work services, counselling, application for assistive devices eg. wheelchairs, disability grant and ID applications, institutional care applications, special schools/mainstream schooling placements, protective workshop and placement into the open labour market to persons with disabilities.

The association appeals to the community and all business houses to provide support and assistance in terms of sponsorship and collection of old clothing in an effort to make their programmes a success.
