THE ANC Greater KwaDukuza Region held the party’s election campaign, dubbed ANC Friday, at the KwaDukuza Recreational Grounds this past Friday.

The campaign was attended by the ANC Youth League KZN secretary Thanduxolo Sabela, Greater KwaDukuza regional chairperson Ricardo Mthembu, party leaders, members and volunteers.

Mthembu said the campaign was a success and was well attended. He said the organisation’s volunteers committed themselves to go on door-to-door campaigns and communicate with potential voters and clarify certain issues that voters might have.

He urged young people to register to vote on 5 and 6 March so that they can exercise their right and by so doing play a role in ensuring that the country’s democracy is kept healthy, upheld and protected.

Mthembu said young people should ensure that leaders they elect are willing to serve communities and care about and put people first.

He said all the ANC branches within the region should have concluded their nomination processes by the end of last week, Sunday 7 February.

Mthembu said all that is outstanding is that branches should present the nominated candidates to their respective communities so communities can have an opportunity to screen these candidates and have a say on who is to be elected to run for elections in the upcoming local government elections. He said doing so would be keeping in line with the party’s guidelines which branches must follow when choosing representatives.

He said the party is hopeful that it will do well in this year’s municipal elections because the organisation has managed to successfully deliver services to the public.

“Whatever you see when it comes to services the ANC government delivered that. We are aware that we as an organisation have weakness but we will address those weaknesses. We are pleading with the community to give us an opportunity to continue with delivering services,” he said.
