THE suspect who was arrested for being in possession of two rhino horns and pieces of ivory a few weeks ago appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 25 November for a bail application.

He was granted bail which was set at R5000. His next court appearance will be on 27 January 2016 where he’ll be facing two counts of restricted activity involving critically endangered, threatened or protected species without a permit.

The suspect, Watson Singini, was arrested on 12 November following a tip-off that led the KwaDukuza Municipality Crime Prevention Unit and the KwaDukuza SAPS to a supermarket on King Shaka Street where police believe the suspect was attempting to sell the items.

The suspect was searched and arrested after the two rhino horns and pieces of ivory were found in his bag.
