SGB sets record straight

2017-06-21 06:00

FOLLOWING a number of articles which has been appearing in local newspapers, we would like to categorically state that, we, the School Governing Body of Stanger High School would like to distance ourselves from recent media reports linking us, as the SGB, to meetings with KwaDukuza Municipality with regards to the proposed development of the schools sports grounds as well as that of Stanger Winter Fair being held there.

We would like to place on record that we are not against plans to develop the school’s sports fields nor availing them for community activities, but we request proper protocols to be observed.
We, as the SGB, did state that we are in favour of the proposed development when this was tabled at our SGB meeting and we have not had any contacts or meetings with the municipality, the developer or any other stakeholder in relation to this.
Insofar as we are concerned as we have not received any formal request for use of grounds for the winter fair. We note with concern that some activity has already started taking place there without the SGB’s consent.

As far as we are concerned we still reserve the right to the property in question and would like to exercise it.

S. M. NYAWO (REV.)

SGB Chairperson (On behalf of the
Stanger High School School Governing Body)
