SANJAY Singh and Paddy Padayachee clinched the Team Doubles Knockout Competition after beating Vinesh Geanbally and Jerry Govender in the final of the Dolphin Coast Fresh Produce sponsored tournament played at the Quartz Sportbar.

The top half of the draw saw Nine Pillay and Jerry Arunachellum beat Preolin Muthoosamy and Terrence Subban 2-1, while Padayachee and Singh beat Jodie Naidoo and Yogan Pillay 2-1 to meet in the quarters.

Meersingh Soobram and Ajen Singh teamed up and beat Keven Gounden and Sashan 2-0. Singh and Padayachee had a rough patch in the quarters against Pillay and Arunachellum as the score was 1-1 .

The third set was a humdinger as both team scored well but Singh took the game away as they reached the double first. Soobram and Singh were their next opponents and there was a battle as the scores were 1-1.

The third set saw Padayachee close to take them to the final.

The bottom half of the draw saw Geanbally and Jerry Govender edge out Charlie Pillay and Vasa Rungasamy 2-1 to move into the quarters.

Leon Moonsamy and Julian Munisami beat Jason Naidoo and Ashton Muthoosamy 2-0 to meet Geanbally and Govender in the quarters.

Geanbally and Govender proved too strong and won 2-0 to advance to the semis.

Rowen Pillay and Subban beat Tridev Singh and Kyle Pillay 2-0 to meet Geanbally and Govender. Pillay and Subban put up a strong fight against Geanbally and Govender when the scores were levelled 1-1.

The third set saw Geanbally and Govender produce top darts and score well, and they won the third set well ahead to meet Singh and Padayachee in the final.

The final was a humdinger as supporters from Singh’s Fireworks and Darnall United cheered their team-mates.

In the first set, Singh and Padayachee from Singh’s Fireworks Darts Club drew first blood and won the set 1-0. However, this was short lived as Geanbally and Govender of Darnall United levelled the scores 1-1.

The third set saw the crowd gathering closer and closer as the game went to the wire as Geanbally and Govender reached the doubles first but fail to close on a double 10.

Singh crawled his way through and closed the game on double two to claim the Team Doubles Knockout sponsored by Dolphin Coast Fresh Produce.

The association thanked Dolphin Coast Fresh Produce for their second year of sponsorship.

Tonight sees the UNL Produce League Round 2 commence with Red Gold KZN Darts Club vs Dhan’s Auto and Quartz vs Singh’s Fireworks, while Darnall are the club on duty.
