THE Quartz Sportsbar in Stanger Manor attracted a large crowd on Monday to witness the closure of the Neelan’s Auto League.

With Sundowner Darts Club and Neelan’s Auto B doing battle head to head, the Sundowner team Darrel Shanmagum, Neeran Somnath, Terrence Subban and Len Naidoo set a high profile winning the the first three team games (1001).

With the same tempo Sundowner went on to win the first doubles game to lead 4-1.

The Neelan’s team Charlie Pillay, Kyle Pillay, Vasa Rungasamy and Yogan Pillay regrouped and had a team chat.

In the second pairs the plan did work in favour of the Neelan’s team.

Rungasamy and Yogan beat Subban and Naidoo to make the scores 4-1.

With four singles matches to go (501) the Neelan’s team had hard work on their hands to snatch victory.

The Sundowner team Shanmagum and Somnath made it clear that the title will be theirs as the beat Charlie and Kyle to make a commanding 6-1 lead.

It was a case of too little to late as Rungasamy and Yogan beat Naidoo and Subban to give Neelan’s two more point to their tally.

At the end it was Sundowner Darts Club who walked away with the Neelan’s Auto Title and Neelan’s B had to settle for the runners up title.

In other games Strini Motors had a walkover taking maximum points as Nevil’s Auto failed to pitch.

Darnall United beat Neelan’s A 6-3 and had to settle for the third spot on the log.

The KwaDukuza Darts Association thanked Neelan for his generous sponsorship. Tonight (Wednesday) sees the last game of the season which is the Rajen Pillay and Family “180” Cup.

The KDDA will host their awards presentation on the Sunday, November 26 at 4.30pm for 5pm at the R A Moodley Hall.
