A TIP-OFF from members of the community led to the speedy arrest of several alleged car thieves in the Mpumalanga area of Maphumulo on August 31.

Six suspects were apprehended after being caught at the scene striping vehicles which were allegedly stolen.
The swift response from the Umhlali SAPS led to the discovery of three Toyota vehicles which were all striped.

iLembe Cluster Commander Major General Chirwa commended the work done by the police officers in apprehending the suspects.

“We hope this will send a message to those wishing to commit crime that the police are all over to make sure that the law takes its course and we also encourage the community to work hand in hand with the police,” said Chirwa.

The suspects appeared in the Maphumulo Magistrate’s Court last Friday.
