THIRTY TWO teams will contest the 2015/2016 season of the KwaDukuza Local Football Association (KLFA) Premier League.
Matches will be played in two Streams on a home and away basis. Movers, Groutville, Happy Stars, Thembeni Warriors, United FC, Current, Siyaya, Tigers, Mega Pirates, Young Lions, Groutville United, Shayamoya, Real FC and African Wanderers will be vying for honours in the Northern Stream.
Sun City, Young Nation. Melville United, Doringkop United, Relatives, Capricorn, Nandhi Shooting Stars, Tornado, TTACC United, Rocky Park United, Rocky Park FC, Qwabe United, Townview, Ex-Lucky Stars, Madundube United, Junior Stars, Jabula FC and Citizen All Stars will contest the Southern Stream.
The winner in each stream will represent KLFA at the Ilembe Regional League promotion playoffs (comprising of KwaDukuza, Ndwedwe, Maphumulo and Mandeni) to be held at the end of the season.
KLFA competitions co-ordinator, Magnum Mngadi said: "The lack of proper playing facilities is a logistic nightmare. With the Country Club and Recreation Ground out of bounds until the end of the Salga Games in mid-December, matches will be played at Gledhow, Melville, Shakaville and the Manor Ground".
"It is the social responsibility of the local businesses and the KwaDukuza Municipality to plough money into sport development and the sponsorship of playing kits will go a long way in alleviating the plight of the poor people", added Mngadi.
"We want to urge the community to come out in numbers and support their local heroes," urged Mngadi.
African Wanderers made an impressive debut in the KLFA Northern Stream after trouncing Siyaya (5-2) at the Melville Ground on Sunday. Current proved too strong for the clawless Tigers after romping to an impressive 6-2 win. Real FC got off to a winning start after beating Mega Pirates 2-0.
Thembeni Warriors suffered a shock 3-1 loss to Groutville United. Movers hammered Shayamoya 5-0 to claim pole position at the summit of the log table.
Local buiness-houses or individuals interested in sponsoring a team with kits, soccer balls, bibs, training cones, old or new boots are requested to contact Magnum Mngadi on 063 017 8381.
