THE U13 Ilembe Girls Cricket team attended the KZN Cricket Festival that took place at Hillary and Queensborough this past Saturday.

Ilembe gave an excellent account.

In the first game, Ilembe vs Umgababa, they won by eight wickets.

Nikita Naidoo took five wickets for two runs in three overs.

In the second game, against Durban South, they lost by 50 runs.

Giovanna Palacio took four wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Rakhi Bodasing scored 24 runs.

The team is now awaiting selection confirmation.

President of Ilembe Primary School Cricket Desigan Pillay said he was grateful to the girls cricket co-ordinator, Mr Swart, and his coaching and management staff who prepared the girls for this event.

“Ilembe Primary School finally has girls cricket up and running and we hope that this sub directorate grows stronger in the years to come.”
