DARNALL United lifted the UNL Produce League title on Wednesday night following a spirited team effort.

Darnall captain Vinesh Geanbally was the cream of the crop, winning all four games.

Jerry Govender, Nine Pillay, Jerry Arunachellum, Terrence Subban and Preollen Muthoosamy kept the Darnall team on a high-note, week after week, to stay at the summit of the log table.

The sugar boys made it clear right from the start that the night belonged to them.

In the first frame, Darnall won 4-0 to take a commanding lead.

The second frame saw another 4-0 victory. With two frames to go, it took a lot of hard work for Red Gold Darts Club to level matters.

The third frame saw Govender and Pillay struggle to close on a double, ultimately paying the price and giving Red Gold a chance to level the scores 2-2.

The last frame was a do-or-die for Red Gold, who came back fighting to win 3-1, but the Red Gold team’s efforts came too late in the day as the Darnall lads won 11-5 on the night to lift the league title.

Darnall captain Geanbally praised his teammates for a good all round performance throughout the league and for lifting the title undefeated.

In other games, Singh’s Fireworks team played well to beat Dhan’s Auto 9-7 and settle for the runners up position.

The KwaDukuza Darts Association thanked UNL Produce for their ongoing sponsorship.

Tonight the association will play a mixed double tournament sponsored by Ravind Fresh Produce.
