The Cleaver Awards have for the past ten years confirmed which butcheries are worth their beef both nationally and regionally. Cuyler Butchery in Uitenhage is the provincial winner in the category four or more tills and received a Platinum Cleaver Award.

The Cleaver Awards, which are proudly supported by Freddy Hirsch, were launched to meet the needs of the consumer by raising standards amongst butcheries. These Awards have grown exponentially in nominations this year with over 30 000 nominations coming in from around South Africa.

Leon Slabbert, owner of Cuyler Butchery, is known for providing excellent service to his customers, but he is now taking it further, with the total revamp of the butchery.

“It will be a state-of-the-art butchery equipped with high-tech technology, a take-away section, cafeteria, rest rooms and parking for up to 60 vehicles,” said Slabbert.

The approximately R10 million revamping project will see the property expanded to a double storey building covering 1400m²
