“Youngsters should stop waiting for people to employ them. They should rather employ themselves by becoming young entrepreneurs.”

This is according to Christopher Terblanche, who has been involved in youth development for the past five years at both community as well as educational institutions.

“I am confident that if we can bring the unemployment rate down, the crime rate, prison-intake and drug and alcohol abuse will also drop,” said Terblanche, who was born and bred in Uitenhage and studied in Cape Town.

Coming from a family who for the past three generations are known as educators in the community, he has a passion to empower the youth and assists them to reach their goals and dreams. For this reason he has established a youth organisaion called Motivated Team Leaders of Tomorrow or MTLT in short.

Terblanche also assist youngsters with bursaries, job placement on a small scale and he is involved in the developing of better reading, writing and speaking skills.

He has embarked on a new venture, entrepreneurial expos in underprivileged areas of Uitenhage.

The next expo will be on Wednesday, September 30th (10:00-12:00) at the Rosedale Recreation Hall.

“We invite youngsters to attend and adults are welcome too.”

The entrance will be free and interested parties are welcome to support the event. There will be business training every Wednesday during October and every Tuesday during November. All training will be free of charge.
