This year Uitenhage will play host to the annual South African Klawerjas Board of Control tournament which will be held at the Uitenhage Town Hall from April 30th until May 3rd.

Teams from the Eastern Cape are looking forward and are prepared to take on their rivals from the Western Cape. In the recent Uitenhage Kla-werjas Union (UKU) competition, which was held as part of players’ preparation, the UKU A team narrowly won 92-90 against the UKU B team.

“I am confident that our team is on the right track,” said De Porres Bruiners, manager of the UKU B team.

Fabian Naidoo and vice-captain Colin White brilliantly beat the dangerous combination of Scott January and Enrico Forbes with 40-26 points.

Phoenix Klawerjas Club slipped-up in the dying moments of their game against Kings Klawerjas Club B team scoring 78-82.

Costa Pervu and Eldrige Human kept Joey Schultz and Wellington Mila at bay to lose only 20-24.

UKU wishes to thank the public for supporting its first raffle. The winner was André Kabanie.
