Lions help chase away the cold

The Uitenhage Lion Club flagship service project is back up again after a two term lay off for reasons not under their control.

The winter jersey campaign commenced in 2006 as a result of the high unemployment in the Uitenhage and Despatch communities. This campaign is where school winter jerseys are donated to no fee primary schools only for those children in need.

“Normally donations are handed to the schools at the commencement of the second school quarter for which we will definitely aim for next year,” said Lion President André van Niekerk

The main source of funds raised to make the project a reality is derived from the highly successful Lion Rally which is held in Cradock over the first weekend of December each year. The primary schools which benefitted from the 2015 Lions Winter Jersey Project are Innes, Winterberg, Despatch Primary and Albertyn
