The Uitenhage Lions Club will be hosting a steak evening in aid of Brenda Vorster (13) who has been diagnosed with a 65 degree upper dorsal spine scoliosis.

“As seen in the x-ray photo this results in the crowding of the right rib cage and deformity of the spine.

“Her parents were informed that she needs to be operated on immediately as being left any later will result in paralysis,” said Uitenhage Lions Club President, Juan Hay.

Family and friends have held various fundraisers with the first operation concluded recently and resulting in Brenda’s spine extended by 5 centimetres.

The medical procedure cost is in the region of R40 000 which excludes costs with the recovery at the physiotherapist, general practitioners plus travelling/accommodation costs for her family to support her during her fight for survival.

The public are invited to come and join the Lions Club for an evening of eating, dancing with music provided by Rudi Stoltz and great fellowship for a very worthy cause.

A cash bar will also be available to quench the thirst of patrons. There will also be car guards on duty to secure the parking areas.

“We at the Uitenhage Lions Club will appreciate the support of the community, who can make a world of difference for Brenda’s indomitable spirit of ‘Bent but not Broken’ and assist the family in their time of need,”

said Lion President Juan Hay.

Steak & dance

The steak evening will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 18:30 for 19:00 at Woga Venue (Moth Hall), Rich Street in Uitenhage.

Donations are R75 per person and include a steak, salads and roll.
