WORLD famous surfers, iconic athletes, top-class musicians and avid anglers will descend upon Jeffreys Bay for the JBay Winterfest to be held from 6 to 22 July.

The JBay Winterfest has a red-hot line-up of events: the Corona JBay Open, forming the backbone of the festival, trail running and the Winterfest Bowls Tournament - a first for the event.

Corona JBay Open

The Corona JBay Open Men’s and Women’s surfing competition, a World Championship Tour and the anchor event of the festival, will see some of the best surfers battle it out at Super- tubes.

Bowls, fishing & trail run

Locals and visitors can look forward to the inaugural Open 4’s Winterfest Bowls Tournament at the Jeffreys Bay Bowling Club from July 4 to 7.

Anglers can reel in thousands of Rand at this year’s JBay Winterfest Skins competition taking place from the Gap at Kabeljauws to Kitchen Window Restaurant from 07:00 to 13:00 on July 6.

The gruelling JBay X-Trail Run is set to take place on July 6. Slake Adventures will once again present the high-speed JBay Winterfest Funduro at Mondplaas on July 7, while music lovers can look forward to the jam-packed Vibe in the Park music sessions at Supertubes Park.

No cash needed

Those attending the Corona JBay Open and Vibe in the Park music session can leave their wallets at home as the cashless system, Howler, will be used. All that is needed is a wristband in order to make transactions - whether it is to buy a steaming cup of coffee or something to eat.

How it works:

  • Download the free App.
  • Create an account and get your free ticket.
  • Top-up with R150 or more online before the event using a credit card or EFT. The pre-purchased credits will be loaded on the wristband. You can also top-up at the Howler station at the event with cash or card.
  • Present the digital ticket at one of the Howler stations and collect your wristband.
  • Tap to pay for food or drink.
  • Money left on the wristband can be redeemed.
