A NEW generation of Port Elizabeth audiences can experience the magic of The Sound of Music when it hits the stage at the Savoy Theatre from September 11 to 28.

The role of Maria will be played by Maryanne van Eyssen. Local radio and theatre personality, Paul Leonard, will recreate the role of Captain von Trapp and popular Bay singer, Tara-Jane Stern will play Baroness Elsa Schräder.

Joining them will be consummate professional, Chireen Ferreira, as the Mother Abbess, Glen McIlroy as Rolf, and a cast of 14 young people who will bring to life the von Trapp children in two teams playing in alternate performances.

Almost everyone can hum a few bars of the unforgettable songs in The Sound of Music, from the inspirational Climb Every Mountain to the Von Trap children’s My Favourite Things and Do Re Mi.

G&S is excited to be working for the first time with Director, Greg Everard. Dario Broccardo debuts with G&S as Musical Director and choreography will be devised by well-known local, award winning, teacher Siobhan Day.
