Despatch: Increase in theft out of vehicles

2018-05-31 06:00

The South African Police Service in Despatch requests the community to be more vigilant and to assist them in their fight against crime to curb the theft out of and theft from motor vehicles in their policing area.

A sudden increase in reports has been detected where cases occurred especially in the Azalea Park, Heuwelkruin (Aalwyn Street) and Windsor Park areas over the past few months.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart said valuables were left in plain sight inside the vehicles and suspects gained access and stole these valuables.

“Owners are requested to double check and ensure that their vehicle is actually properly locked before leaving their vehicle,” said Captain Swart.
