SINGER songwriters Digby and The Lullaby are back for one more night at the Music Kitchen.

Their recent show swept the audience away on a journey that seemed to blur the boundaries between reality and fiction and judging by their reaction, the second show will be worth seeing and hearing.

Darren and Roochi Peens spent several years in Cape Town before they moved back to the Eastern Cape and nowadays live in St Francis Bay. In fact Roochi hails from Uitenhage and recently celebrated her 10 year reunion with the girls at Riebeek College.

“There’s something magical that Uitenhage does to you, the people, the conversations and the memories that last a lifetime. No matter where I go... my heart stays home,” said Roochi.

“I was amazed at how Riebeek continues to flourish and had flash backs of the days spent on the playgrounds and the hours of solace I found writing songs on the piano in the music room.

“I am forever grateful for the impact the teachers and my peers made in my life. It has beautifully shaped me,” said Roochi.

She and her husband, Darren Peens, have both discovered a love for playing music at an early age.

“I wrote my first song when I was seven years old. When I played it for my mom, she did not believe me until I showed her the lyrics I’d scribbled on a piece of paper,” said Roochi.

Regarding their performance at The Music Kitchen, Darren said they have added more to their show since their last one at The Music Kitchen.

“So if you came last time, come again, you haven’t seen it all!” said Darren, guitarist and singer.

  • Catch them live at The Music Kitchen for one more show tonight at 20:00. Tickets are R120 per person and bookings are at 072 994 5096 or 066 200 2765.
