DP crowned regional T20 champs

Daniel Pienaar THS were crowned CSA Schools Regional T20-champs after beating Brandwag in the final by 10 runs.

In the quarter final DP beat Despatch by 121 runs. DP batted first and scored 198/5 in 20 overs - Adrian Leibbrandt 68 runs and Sydney Daniell scored 40 runs.

In reply, Despatch could only manage 70 runs all out - Denovan Jones (4 overs, 4 wickets, 12 runs) and Adrian Leibbrandt (4 overs, 2 wickets, 13 runs) were DP’s best bowlers.

In the semi-final DP beat Woodridge by 9 runs. DP batted first and posted 111/7 in 20 overs - Adrian Leibbrandt 27, Zander Viljoen 24. In reply, Woodridge were restricted to 102/9 in their 20 overs. Kenan Smith (4 overs, 3 wickets, 14 runs) and Denovan Jones (4 overs, 1 wicket, 9 runs) were outstanding bowlers for DP.

In the final against Brandwag, DP batted first and posted 146/2 in their allotted 20 overs - Adrian Leibbrandt, top scorer, with 77 not out and Zander Viljoen 51.

Brandwag replied with 136/7 in 20 overs.

Sinalo Grootboom 3 overs 2 wickets 13 runs and Adrian Leibbrandt 4 overs 2 wickets 22 runs were the pick of the DP bowlers.

In the league match played at Daniel Pienaar, Brandwag’s first team chose to bat after winning the toss and posted a formidable 207/6 in 50 overs.

DP’s best bowlers were Kenan Smith (10 overs, 2 wickets, 43 runs) and Denovan Jones (10 overs, 1 wicket, 20 runs.)

In reply, Daniel Pienaar scored 208/3 in 45 overs with captain, Adrian Leibbrandt, scoring an unbeaten 78 runs, Zander Viljoen 32 runs and Denovan Jones 28 not out. DP’s first team won by 7 wickets.

In the other matches of the day DP’s second team beat Brandwag by 35 runs and DP’s U15A beat Brandwag by 6 wickets.
