2018-03-29 06:02

Wheels 4 Sight is a 3km fun walk challenge that one will not often see and it will be spearheaded by Jaco Smit, visually impaired Eastern Province 400 metre champion.

This challenge will be held at Spiders Web on the outskirts of Despatch and is hosted by Retina SA Eastern Cape, a registered non-profit organisation, in partnership with Spiders Web, Workshop Crew MCC and the Uitenhage Lions Club.

Visually impaired runners will be challenging members of the Uitenhae and Despatch communities to participate in this exciting event which will be held on May 5th.

Entrants have the option to run in one of three categories: run/walk as a sighted person; run/walk as a sighted guide, assist a visually impaired person or be challenged to walk/run under a simulated visual impairment. There will be lots of lucky draw prizes and medals for the first 100 who pass the finish line.

The action starts at 09:00 and the entrance fee is R20.

All proceeds of the fundraiser will go towards Retina SA and its research of genetic mistakes causing retinal blindness in families.
