The National Tekkie Tax campaign day is scheduled for Friday, May 26th and the Uitenhage & District SPCA is the only beneficiary in the Eastern Cape who will be participating in it.All funds raised from sales are divi-ded up with an instant percentage donated to the local SPCA and the balance paid into the campaign nationwide. The group that sells the most reaps the biggest benefit. Get your funky shoelaces before March 31st:The campaign raises funds by selling Tekkie Tax stickers at R 10 each and also funky shoelaces including a sticker at R 35 a set. Shoelace stock must be purchased in advance, with the deadline for placing orders being 31 March 2017. “This will provide us with the opportunity to place and distribute orders before Tekkie Tax day,” said Deirdre Swift of the Uitenhage SPCA.“Funds raised on behalf of the local SPCA will be allocated to the sterilization programme, purchase of medication/food and cleaning material to retain high hygiene standards of the 97 kennels.“Most importantly it will be to provide much needed funding for the prevention of animal cruelty in the greater Nelson Mandela Metropole,” said Deirdre Swift.
