RIEBEEK College Girls’ High School has undertaken a number of holiday projects since the end of exams. One of it was to bake biscuits for the elderly.

Worker hampers and a shoe collection preceded their “gifts for the elderly” project. After they had baked the biscuits they gathered to gift wrap them and delivered the treats personally to the elderly at Aandmymering Old Age Home in Uitenhage.

Octavia Johannes, head of Riebeek Interact said, “Interact Committee 2017/2018 has had an eventful start. Upholding the motto ‘Service Above Self’ we’ve managed to complete three projects.

“Our annual workers’ hampers collection led to us handing over hampers to our ground staff. We also undertook the matric school shoe collection. The ‘Biscuits For Christmas’ initiative involved packaging biscuits to hand over to the elderly at Aandmymering.

“The girls have proved to be dedicated and a hard-working group of Interacters as they have baked nearly 1000 biscuits and sacrificed their time to come to school during the holidays to pack them.

“Thank you to the teachers who helped us and all who contributed to our collections,” said Octavia.
