Chef Morné Brown sticks to the principle of simplicity which to him is the best recipe for whatever is being served at Coffee on Caledon ... good food, good coffee and good service.

“We keep it simple and the vibe at Coffee on Caledon is a kind of country flair, café bistro combination,” said Morné.

“Pretension is not part of what you will experience here. I can do the fancy food, but prefer to serve straight from the heart on to a plate

The fixed menu at Coffee on Caledon is limited to the popular regulars, but the impromptu eats and treats you definitely will not be served anywhere else in town.

“I look at the weather and what is available. . We do it fresh and that inspires a daily menu.”

Morné’s specialities vary from pulled-pork smokey barbeque sandwich, butternut soup, croissants with chicken mayo curry and nuts, quiche, carrot cake, gourmet bunny chows, gourmet burgers and various breakfasts.

He is also known for “lekker kerrie-afval”.

And then there are the aromatic blends of coffee which simply are the best in town ...
