2017-11-02 06:00

The 1.3km Herbal Labyrinth in the Elands River Valley, one of the largest labyrinths in South Africa, will officially be opened on Saturday.

The Herbal Labyrinth was designed by Charmaine Lesch and her three daughters. The complicated design has a diameter of 48 metres. Apart from the spiritual experience, The Herbal Labyrinth was also designed to be a source of most known herbal plant species in the country.

Charmaine, who has an extensive knowledge of herbal medicines said, “The purpose of the labyrinth is also to educate and inform people to make a conscious choice between herbal and chemical medicines.”

Activities on Saturday include stalls (08:00-18:00); local singers to perform from 09:00 (Sam, Coly, Carika, Gavin & Lincoln); potjie-kos competition (09:30-15:00); Kiddies crafts workshop (11:00-13:00); 15:00 LuisterFM.

It is situated at the Monte Vista farm in Elands River Valley, which is 23km from Uitenhage and 9.5km from Uncle Freddies at Rocklands.

The public are invited to come and discover for themselves how walking this labyrinth naturally quiets the mind and entrance will be free.
