Indoor soccer action for boys and girls

An exciting junior indoor round robin soccer tournament for boys and girls, kicks off on Saturday at the VW PeoplePavilion in Uitenhage.

“After the success of the November 2015 tournament, The Extended Hand has decided to again host a tournament, this time during the July 2016 school holiday,” said Frank Japhta, co-ordinator of the tournament.

Young soccer players from schools, clubs or youth organisations are invited to participate. The categories for participation include all junior age girls, boys U/11, boys U/13 and boys U/15.

The four day round robin tournament starts this coming Saturday and Sunday at the VW PeoplePavilion indoor facility and continues on the 9th & 10th July at the Uitenhage Indoor Sports Centre.

According to Japtha, each team consists of 6 players with a maximum of 10 players per team. The match duration is 14 minutes (6 minutes/side & 2 minutes break). The 4 best placed teams in each category will advance to play in the semi-finals and ultimately the finals.

The 4 category winners will receive trophies and gold medals with the runners-up receiving silver medals.
