TWELVE Hosking Academy of Dance ballet students, all from Uitenhage, Despatch and Kirkwood, received gold medals at the Talent Africa national competition which was held at the Opera House in Port Elizabeth.

Their proud teacher, Lisle Ferreira, initially entered her ballet students into the Talent Africa regional competition which was held during February 2019. All 12 students did exceptionally well and went through to the Talent Africa national competition.

At the nationals, all 12 ballet students received gold medals for their dances: The Rose, Love and Marriage, and Munich and Me.

Sarah-Leigh Thompson received two gold medals, for a solo performance as well as a duet. Sarah-Leigh and Elke van der Smit were selected by the judging panel, as part of only 18 dance items, to again perform at the Gala Showcase with their duet, Love and Marriage.

All 12 ballerinas received Federation EP colours and now have the opportunity to take part in the Talent America competition which will be held in New York during June 2019.
