Local karateka wins world championship

Students from L&J Karate Academy in Uitenhage competed at the 8th Japan Shotokan Karate Association (JSKA) World Karate Championships hosted in Swakopmund, Namibia.

In total 14 countries competed at the event with more than 300 competitors competing and more than 1 000 divisions run over the two-day period. A highlight of the event was when L&J Karate student Stephan Terblanche won the Men’s Open Kumite final beating the current JSKA World Champion, and local Namibian favourite, De Wet Moolman.

In total 9 students represented L&J Karate Academy at the international event and a total of 22 medals were brought back to the Eastern Cape
