LOCAL tennis player Dylan Coert has been selected to represent the Eastern Province Seniors Tennis at the upcoming Seniors Interprovincial Tennis Tournament which will be held in Cape Town. The tournament will end tomorrow.Coert had an aspiring career as a young Border tennis player in King Williams Town. He started playing tennis at the age of 7-years and was coached by the well-known Eastern Cape professional tennis coach David Kempele. Unfortunately Coert had to take a break from the sport for 16 years before returning to court 3 years ago when he and his family moved to Uitenhage. He is a member of the Drostdy Tennis Club and member of the EP Seniors 1st team.“I am looking forward to the tournament. Hopefully I can make it as I am still short of sponsorship,” said Coert. He is the only seniors tennis player from Uitenhage who has made the EP team. Two weeks ago he was part of the regional team playing against Eden in Mossel Bay to determine who will go to the interprovincial. Coert won all his games and was selected for the team. “If I do well I could possibly come home with a SA jersey!” said Coert, an on-line English teacher who works from home.Coert’s daughter, Kendra Coert (12) is also a keen tennis player at Walmer Primary School.
