A 24 hour mass cycling ride, Let’s Live For Jayde, will be held in Uitenhage to commemorate the late Jayde Inggs’ 32nd birthday on Wednesday, November 22.

“We have not advertised the mass ride, but people’s interest in Jayde is of such a magnitude that the Facebook post views about Let’s Live For Jayde has rocketed into the thousands,” said Johan Oosthuizen from Fuel on Wheels, organiser of the mass cycling marathon ride.

“We expect hundreds of people who supported the Justice for Jayde initiative and hundreds more to join in the mass cycling ride or just to walk the route on this special day.”

Oosthuizen said at first they could not get the right wording to name the day. Neither “celebrate” nor “birthday” were suitable words to really carry the message they had at heart.

“Robert from Odds and Ends then came with the idea, what about Let’s Live For Jayde. We immediately said, Yeah! That’s exactly what it is! Jayde will forever live in people’s memories and we owe it to her to continue to do good. As she did on a daily basis,” said Oosthuizen.

The action starts on Tuesday, November 21st at 18:00 in front of 49 Aalwyn Drive, where it will 24 hours down the line also end on Jayde’s birthday, November 22. Oosthuizen will cycle non-stop for 24 hours. Jayde’s sister Tony will also partake in the cycling initiative.

All interested are most welcome to join in the Let’s Live For Jayde event. Participants are requested to bring along a can of non- perishable food which will be donated to the Uitenhage SPCA or R10 which will be donated towards a soup kitchen. A huge tent will be erected on the open field opposite 49 Aalwyn Drive where the public are most welcome to pop-in and show their support. There will be coffee and refreshments and those wishing to braai are most welcome to do so.

Local singers like Chantal Bosch have agreed to perform and she will sing some of Jayde’s favourite songs. DJ Angel has shown his support and will be the master of ceremonies and responsible for the music.

Also supporting the event will be the local motorcycling fraternity.

Oosthuizen said he made a commitment for as long as he lived, annually to host the Let’s Live For Jayde community event in Uitenhage on the 22nd of November.

“The Inggs family are special people, not only to me, but to many others.

“People from all over have shown their support for Let’s Live For Jayde. It brings tears to my eyes to see and hear how fond people are of a person they have never met, but who touched their lives,” said Oosthuizen.
