McCarthy alumni projects to support further education

2016-03-24 06:00

It is a reality that most school leavers cannot afford to further their studies. Former learners from McCarthy Comprehensive School in Uitenhage have a mission to provide initiatives and partnerships in support of those deserving to attend a college or university.

Denver Hendricks, a chairman of the McCarthy Old Skoolers Foundation, said it is their aim to provide programming that affords different academic opportunities to students, regardless of their social or economic status and means.

“Therefore we are excited to host our first gala evening on April 30th in an effort to raise much needed funds towards our school,” said Hendricks.

“It will be a glitzy, formal and classy all white affair in support of the future of our children.”

The gala event will be held at the Uitenhage Town Hall at 18:00, where a three course dinner will be served. The theme is “Whimsical White & Crystals” and there will be lucky draws and guest speakers.

  • Tickets are R200 per person and available from the chairmen of the foundation, Denver Hendricks 083 290 0751 or Duncan Mageer 083 287 2187.
