MUIR College last weekend hosted its 100th school reunion where old boys from all around the world gathered to celebrate their Alma Mater.

The weekend commenced with the annual Founders’ Ceremony, followed by a special unveiling of a newly renovated area of campus.

Junior rugby matches took place against Sterling with Muir’s U/13A winning 17-0.

Friday evening brought much excitement and nostalgia as 200 old boys dined together in the school hall, catching up on years gone by and reminiscing about their school days. The evening presented a captivating speech by David Emslie and ended off with each old boy belting out The College Song with as much passion and pride as ever!

Saturday continued to bring much needed rain, but unfortunately the greatly anticipated Streso Allstars cricket match had to be called off.

Molly Blackburn, however, played to their heart’s content irrespective of the weather, in the M and M Tinarha Boys Rugby School Challenge against Muir. The college won both the U/16A and 1st XV match beating Molly Blackburn 66-0 and 57-3, both were enjoyable games to watch as the supporters of each side cheered their team on enthusiastically.

Although Muir celebrated its 100th reunion, it is the school’s 197th year of existence, making it the oldest boys’ high school in South Africa.
