MUIR College beat Nico Malan 20-17 in a tense inter-schools match on the Ellis Field in Uitenhage last Saturday.

Muir seemed in control at the break and held a commanding 15-5 lead, but the visitors fought back well to leave the game in the balance with two minutes to go.

However, the Muir defence stood firm to clinch the victory.

For the hosts, tries were scored by Gershin Williams, Wongalethu Hobo, and Athi Zenzile. Liyema Gaba converted once and also kicked a penalty.

For Nico Malan, tries were scored by Anshis Plaaities, Tiaan Moore and Conrad van Vuuren, who also converted one of the tries.
