Opportunity for the kids to be someone else’s hero

Spur IRONKIDS has launched their campaign, Spur Mini Hero, to raise awareness of the IRONMAN 4 the Kids Charity Trust, which is the official charity of the Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship.

The charity started in 2005 and the goal was to raise R11 000. Now 12 years later their goal is 2 million rand, to support 21 charities associated with the trust.

The IRONMAN African Championship and Spur IRONKIDS events both take place on the first weekend of April, with Spur IRONKIDS happening on Saturday 1 April and IRONMAN on Sunday 2 April 2017.

Each Spur IRONKIDS participant, between the ages of 6 and 13 years old, will swim 100m and run 1.2km, crossing the same finish line as the IRONMAN athletes on Hobie Beach.

The campaign brings together not only Spur’s philosophy of participation and an active, healthy lifestyle but it is an opportunity for the children to be someone else’s hero.
