The local Uitenhage & District SPCA is the only registered animal beneficiary in the Eastern Cape who which be participating in the Tekkie Tax fund-raising campaign on Friday, May 26th.

Tekkie Tax is a fun way of raising funds for a charity sector close to your heart. The main aim of the campaign is to “Protect the Vulnerable” whether it be people or animals.

“Funds raised on behalf of the local SPCA will be allocated to the sterilization programme, purchase of medication, food and cleaning material for the 97 kennels,” said Deirdre Swift of the Uitenhage & District SPCA.

This Tekkie Tax welfare fund-raising campaign consist of 250 welfare organisations grouped in five sections. The concept is that all and anyone from an individual to service clubs, schools, sports clubs or businesses can participate. The challenge is for participants on one specific day in a year wear tekkies to work, but with Tekkie Tax funky shoe laces.

All you need to do is to buy a pair of funky shoelaces (R35 including a sticker) and wear them on Friday, May 26th.

“Most important about Tekkie Tax is that it will be to provide much needed funding to the local SPCA for the prevention of animal cruelty in the greater Nelson Mandela Metropole,” said Swift.

  • Orders for funky shoelaces can be placed with Deirdre 083 415 5181, Denis 083 651 7870 or at the Vet Shop, Penford Centre.
