GERT Williams (52) was sentenced to 22 years imprisonment by the Uitenhage Regional Court on Monday, 3 September, for raping a 12-year-old victim twice during 2016 in Kamesh.

According to police spokes-person Captain Gerda Swart, the accused was arrested by detectives soon after the cases were opened and Williams remained in custody for the duration of the trial.

Williams was found guilty in November 2017.
