SOUTH Africa’s oldest boys’ high school, Muir College which was established in 1822, will celebrate its 197th annual reunion and founders weekend on 8 & 9 March.

Old boys, parents and friends from around the country will be travelling to Uitenhage to participate in the festivities that the weekend has to offer. The Founders’ ceremony will be held in the College Hall on Friday, 8th March at 10:30.

This will be followed by rugby matches at 14:00 against Stirling High School.

Fixtures: 14:00 Muir U/13B vs Stirling; 14:10 Muir U/11 vs Stirling; 15:40 Muir U/13 vs Stirling.

The Old Muirite Union annual general meeting will be held on Friday, March 8th at 17:00 at the school. The celebration mood will kick-in at 18:30 with the traditional Old Muirite Dinner to be held in the school hall.

The guest speaker will be David Emslie, Master of Ceremonies: Craig Ross and the dress code is suit/blazer. Tickets are R240 for adults and R150 for student

On Saturday, March 9th, rugby and cricket matches will be played. The Muir first XI team will play against Old Boys at pitch 4 (09:00); whilst a School team will play against “Streso All Stars” (pitch 6).

Rugby matches will be against teams from Molly Blackburn. The fixtures are: 13:00 Muir U/16A vs Molly Blackburn; 14:10 Muir First XV vs Molly Blackburn.
