A sting operation by members of the Hawks, Crime Intelligence and K9 has led to the arrest of three suspects in Uitenhage.

Early Tuesday morning, the joint team intercepted a Nissan bakkie in Uitenhage, loaded with approximately 15 200 mandrax tablets with a street value of approximately R760 000.

The drugs were found hidden in the vehicle’s false compartments. The suspects aged 33, 34, 51 and believed to be from Soweto were apparently on their way to Port Elizabeth to deliver the tablets.

They yesterday appeared in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on drug related charges.
