Kitchings Attorneys in Uitenhage is one of the oldest law firms in Uitenhage and the Nelson Mandela Bay metropole.

Established in 1947 by the late Joseph Kitching, it in its present form consists of an incorporation with his son Arnold Kitching as director, specializing in High Court, Regional Court and Magistrates Court Litigation, Municipal Law, Commercial Law, Insolvency Law and Collections.

His fellow directors are Toinette Hoffman and Almero Kritzinger, with associates Lizanne Conradie and Tanya Nel, candidate attorney Sandra Venter, paralegal Estelle van der Merwe and consultants Desiré Amanda Slabbert and Elizabeth Conradie.

“The key staff members, experts, technical and support staff all form an integral role in ensuring that our firm renders a professional and effective service.” said Arnold Kitching.

All the directors have the right to appear in the High Court and are supported by a professional and loyal staff with years of cumulative legal expertise and experience in the above-mentioned categories of law.

“We are committed to ongoing skills development with our firm and provide training on a continuous basis ensuring that our clients receive the most up to date legal advice and assistance.”

Kitchings Inc. through the years articled five black candidate attorneys the last of which Sifundo Tiki, formerly from Uitenhage, has taken up a position at FAIS Ombudsman in Centurion after he qualified as an attorney.

Tiki has the following to say about his experience at Kitchings Attorneys and about Arnold Kitching, “He taught me how to paginate. He taught me how to interpret the law. He taught me how to fight in a court of law. He taught me how to confuse the Magistrate. He taught me how to draft legal documents. He taught me how play around law.”

Kitching said that they are fortunate not only to have access to an extensive legal library on the premises, but are also subscribed to an internet based legal library ensuring immediate legal information/research access at their fingertips.

“We make use of the latest computer software servicing our litigation, deceased estates, collection, conveyancing, accounting and rental departments,” said Kitching.

Practising from a historic building modernly equipped, the firm has always delivered a unique service of the highest quality to their clients and the public and will continue to do so in the future.
