Uitenhage outdoor market celebrates 4th year

2017-11-30 06:01

The Uitenhage Market’s 4th birthday will be celebrated on Sunday at Willow Dam with a variety of new stalls and a performance by the talented singer Monique Marais.

It will also be the special Christmas Market and the last market of the year.

“We would like to say a big thank you to all our stall holders. It warms our hearts if we hear the countless stories of the difference that our market makes in stallholders’ lifes,” said Terrence Gouws, organiser of the Uitenhage Market.

“Whether the platform helps putting their child through school, giving people independence, paying bills, grow their small business, distracting them from sicknesses they are fighting and simple things like the social aspect of the market for people, makes it all worthwhile each month.”

Highlights of the 2017 outdoor market include raising funds to fix up the ablution blocks at the Willow Dam, hosting their first junior singing competition and seeing the singing sensations Elandre Swart and Dillon Lerm performing on market days.

Some other highlights include baby and beauty competitions, several CD launches, and a boeresport day organised by the Uitenhage Round Table.

“The Uitenhage Market brings together the community of Uitenhage and surrounding areas to a day of fun for everyone, every first Sunday of the month.

“Here they can enjoy listening to live performances by local singers, or tantalize their taste buds with good food. Children simply love our new kiddies entertainment area.

“A special thank you to the Uitenhage Market team for helping every month to make a bigger success of the market. Lastly, I would like to thank the visitors and local loyal supporters that come to our market every month.

The Uitenhage Market will be held on Sunday, December 3rd from 09:00 to 14:00. Entrance is free of charge. The next Uitenhage Market will be on the 4th of February 2018.
