Vehicle parts thief in court CRIME IN BRIEF

A 44-year-old man made his first appearance before the Uitenhage Magistrate court on Monday for possession of suspected stolen property which amounts to approximately R900 000.

Thembile Mama is the last of six suspects who were arrested for allegedly stealing motor vehicle parts from a car manufacturing company in Uitenhage. Mama was arrested by the Organised Crime unit of the Hawks on Thursday 7 July 2016.

It is alleged that Mama, Ralph Rens (41), Shane Vrolik (36), Bavin Peterse (28), Lunga Sitoto (27) and Siyabonga Bholopi (26), on 29 January 2016 stole motor vehicle parts. Rens, Peterse , Sitoto and Bholopi were all arrested on the same day the theft allegedly took place. Vrolik was arrested in March this year.

Mama received R500 bail and all suspects will appear before the Uitenhage Magistrate court on 19 July 2016.
