THE Mercedes Benz W108 was premièred at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1965 and was produced through to 1972. A total of 25 of these “timeless cars” will be seen on roads in and around Nelson Mandela Bay this weekend.

Members of the Mercedes Benz Club South Africa will take their legendary cars on a W108/9 Run to various tourist attractions in the area.

The road trip action starts tomorrow at 08:45 with their departure from Grass Roof, heading towards Uitenhage to visit the VWSA AutoPavilion as well as the factory.

Other highlights of the weekend will be their visit to Addo Elephant National Park on Saturday. The convoy will leave PE at 07:00, heading towards the Matyholweni gate near Colchester.

For lunch they will head towards the iconic Phoenix Hotel to be there at 13:15.

A gala evening, themed 60s &70s, will be held at Maritime Motors.

The initial model lineup consisted of three W108s: 250S, 250SE, and 300SE, as well as a sole W109, the 300SEL.
