TEKKIE Tax is an international fundraising campaign that benefits many non-governmental organizations and this year CMR Uitenhage, for the first time, is a beneficiary.

The fun of participating in Tekkie Tax will all happen on Friday, 25 May.

CMR is a registered child protection organization in Uitenhage at 41 John Street, and deliver services to all children irrespective of race, creed or gender.

As a beneficiary of Tekkie Tax, they will be able to help many more children and families in need. Therefore they invite the communities of Uitenhage and Despatch to put on their tekkies in support of our vulnerable children.

“We will be a first-time beneficiary this year and would like to go all out to make this a huge success,” said Yolanda Gouws, programme manager at CMR Uitenhage.

“It is only with the support of the community that we can make a difference in the lives of our children.”

Funds raised will be used to deliver comprehensive professional welfare services to improve the lives of children, to enable social workers to render effective and excellent services to children and people in need in order to build stronger communities.

CMR assist families with therapeutic services, children with various life skills and child protection programmes. They also support vulnerable families with home based care services.

So, give a little sparkle to your old pair of tekkies with a new pair of Tekkie Tax laces for R35. For R10 you can purchase a Tekkie Tax sticker to show your support for our children in need. T-shirts in all sizes are available on request.

Tekkie Tax stickers and shoe laces are available at the following places: CMR Uitenhage, Penford Motors in Graaff-Reinet Road and OK Bazaars at Cuyler Service Centre, Cuyler Street and Brocketts Sports in Church Street.
