THE Writer’s Guild of South Africa (WGSA) will be hosting a workshop for aspiring writers on Saturday, August 31, in Uitenhage.

Professor Adelle Gascoyne who is the council of the WGSA in the portfolio: Professional Development for Eastern Cape and Free State said the workshop will focus on two types of writing, namely traditional and new media.

“The field of performance writing covers traditional which includes screenplays for film, television, stage plays and radio; and new media which focuses on webcasting and gaming,” she said.

Gascoyne who will be hosting the workshop titled ‘Acting emotion in screenwriting’ said, “The workshop will cover a wide range of human emotions and how to successfully bring this to screenwriting.

“The workshop will benefit both existing writers and aspiring writers.

“Anyone with a dream to write for the screen is invited to attend.”

Gascoyne who is a produced performance writer said the WGSA is a full member of the International Association of the Guilds (IAWG) and had five tiers of membership.

“We have full members for produced performance writers, candidate members for aspiring performance writers who do not yet have work produced, student members who are enrolled at educational institutions, friends of the WGSA and corporate members,” she said.

The cost of the workshop is R150 for WGSA members, R200 for non-members and R50 for students.
