THE Eastern Province team of golfers from the South African Golf Development Board were the proud winners of the 2018 fourth league.

Coached by Nkosinathi Ndedwa, the team was unbeaten, winning five games with one draw.

According to Frans de Kock, SAGDB manager of the Eastern Province team, logistically it remains a tough challenge to transport all of these players from different areas to participate in the league games.

“But, we are very fortunate to have a minibus from the Eastern Province Golf Union to utilize. We are very grateful to the Union for its contribution towards the development of golf in our province,” said De Kock.

He has been involved in golf development since 2007 and has recently been appointed as the SAGDB manager of the Eastern Province.

Three of the SAGCB EP players played in the 2018 Premier League for different golf clubs. They are Gieshaine Matthews (Fairview Golf Club), Curtley Stofberg (EP-19) and Lumkile Mantshiyo (EP-19).

Rostin Adams, Devon Valentine and Johndre Ludick also represented Eastern Province at the Katberg competition in the U.15 category.

De Kock said he was looking forward to developing the golf talent of the young ones in the region.

“By doing so, we can contribute to changing our communities for the better!” said De Kock.
