A woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured when a minibus taxi overturned on the N1 highway outside Touws River on Monday morning, Western Cape traffic chief Kenny Africa has said.

The Toyota Quantum had been transporting 15 passengers from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle at around 07:30, he said.

The accident, which left the vehicle on its side, happened about 16km outside of Touws River.
