Durban – One person has been killed after a truck carrying chemicals was involved in an accident on the N2 between KwaDukuza and Zinkwazi, north of Durban on Friday.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst said the accident involved the truck and a motor vehicle. He said IPSS Medical Rescue treated a critically injured patient.

"IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics arrived on scene to find the road in flames. One patient was ejected and declared dead on scene. Another is in a critical condition being treated by IPSS Medical Rescue's Advanced Life Support paramedic."

The N2 was closed after the accident resulted in a chemical spill, he said.
