East London - Ten murder suspects were denied bail in the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court, Eastern Cape, on Wednesday.

They allegedly beat a man to death on 1 December in what police believed was a mob justice attack, police spokesperson Nkosikho Mzuku said.

The suspects believed the victim stole money at a shebeen in the Silvertown area.

"The shebeen owner allegedly organised the community to be on a look-out for the deceased. They found him and allegedly assaulted him to death."

The 10, aged between 20 and 40, would remain in custody until their next court appearance on 5 January.
