Pretoria - Twelve people were injured, eight seriously, in a three-vehicle pileup on Watermeyer Road near the Pretoria Road junction, in Pretoria, on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

"Common cause information indicates that a minibus taxi had entered the junction and collided with a light delivery vehicle and a car which had turned into its path," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks.

The injured were treated on the scene and transported to Mamelodi Day Clinic.

Zwelakhe?2012/04/07 04:34:41 AM\r\n\r\nRaj, are you driving an old jalopie? The cars they are making today have got all the features to make your driving even safer with excellent braking systems, superior road holding and many more.A speed of over 200km/h on one of the German cars is like cruising. That is why in Germany, they have a motor way with a minimum speed. If you go deeper into the root causes of accidents, it is not speed but \driver stupidity\. If we as drivers can change our attitude on the roads, our roads can be much safer. Our enforcement needs to focus on that, just like the government is doing with HIV/AIDS, focusing on behaviour Zwelakhe, the next time you are cruising at over 200Km/h in your German car don't forget to kiss your A** goodbye if a driver with a taxi comes in your way all of a sudden like they usually do.

Yet another taxi driver, another accident making headlines. I say jail him for reckless driving. So much inconvenience, pain and suffering because of one persons stupidity.

That crossing is the cause of most of the accidents in the area. It needs a robot or at least a stop street!! for cars turning out of the PnP entrance into Watermeyer. The road curves, so no-one can see oncoming traffic from both sides & it being a double road does not help speed at all. I wonder how many people should be injured or die before authorities will do something about it.

Did you approach your city counsel to ask for a traffic circle or traffic light???? Stop moaning and do something about it!
